God gives abilities and gifts! When God brought out the Israelites from Egypt he told Moses each tribes job or ability He was giving them. Each tribe was give an ability that they would share with the other tribes from Priests/Physicians, judges, lawyers(those who would know and memorize God’s laws), wood, metal, cloth, and art working, right down to the care of all that was created. God gave the Priests instruction in how to deal with diseases in their environment. God did not remove those diseases from their environment. Today we call those who study these diseases Scientist. These have a gift to want to help people by learning how to protect from the diseases in our environment. Things haven’t changed a lot from what God taught the priests; wash under running water, cover the face when sick and go out away from others to stop the spread. Yes, it is written. God gave the ability to some to develop what we call vaccines this is medical science not to be confused with religious science. Yes, the medicines developed that have saved many lives can be abused and that is a choice we each make. Some will also have allergic reactions to some. We continue to learn. There is an old saying, “Don’t throw out the baby with the bath water.” Most people today do not remember the nightmares of the disease that killed millions before vaccines. We are now being reminded how bad it can be. Covid killed and continues to kill and destroy health and lives, measles has roared back killing and destroying the health of those who get it. These diseases are still in our environment. We have been blessed by the gift God gave doctors to help us to avoid these diseases that are in our environment. Medical science is NOT religious science please don’t lump them together. God created all things and gave man who He created to be good stewards of all He created. God is not a God of chaos but a God of order. God uses what He chooses to build up and to tear down and it is in His perfect timing. Science has shown us just how much of what God taught in His word is true. It amazes me how science has taught us what God gave instructions in we can now understand why. From the food we eat, to covering our face when sick and staying away from others, to dealing with mold in our homes, and how to treat each other. Yes, it is all in the Bible, the best self help book ever written! Jesus fought the devil with,”It is written.” I did struggle with reading the Bible but God opened my heart and mind to see all that He had given me and each of us. Will we who believe set our hearts and minds to learn from the Master and accept and embrace the gifts He has given each of us and use those gifts for good?
Ecclesiastes 1:9-11 That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “See this is new?” It has already been in ancient times before us. There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come by those who will come after.
We are in the age of information. We can go to a library or google to find the history of most everything. When the flu first broke out over 100 years ago millions died, millions have died from measles, polio, and all the others which we now can be vaccinated for. We are still dealing with covid which has killed millions and destroyed health of those who survived. Will we reject learning?
Proverbs 4:5-7 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom and in all your getting get understanding.
