Are You a Jonah?

Jonah 4:2, So he prayed to the Lord and said, “Ah Lord, was not this what I said when I was still in my own country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish: for I know that You are a gracious and Merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness, One who relents from doing harm.

Jonah 4:11, God Speaks,”Should I not pity Neneveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred twenty-thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left and much livestock?

2 Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slack in keeping His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Matthew 4:24, Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments and those who were demon possessed, epileptics, and paralytics and He healed them all.

Jesus never turned away anyone who came to Him and He still doesn’t. Jesus even sought out those who could not come to Him but were in need. The woman at the well, the man of the tombs were just 2. Jesus knows each and every one of us. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 4:12, Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heave given among men by which we must be saved.

How we treat our fellow man is important to God. So important that God gave Solomon many wise proverbs on how to live a God fearing wise life. When I prayed and asked God “how am I supposed to live.” I clearly heard “proverbs.” I whined ” God I don’t understand them.” I found He opened them up to me and my biggest issue was I was convicted of my own bad behavior.

Proverbs 3:11-12, My son do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction, 12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.

Thank You Lord Jesus for Your love and very long-suffering with us. Lord I am thankful You remember we are dumb sheep and are drawn away too easily by our own sinful flesh. Please forgive us and set us back on your firm foundation that we may live a life pleasing to You and to be free of the bonds of sin. Lord give mighty strength to your Holy Spirit that we may hear and listen and obey You so that we stay in the shelter of Your wings. In Jesus mighty name amen. Blessed be the name of our Lord and Savior the only One who can keep our feet like the feet of the deer and on His firm foundation.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
