Be Still?

How many of us can be still? There is always something to do, that needs done, someone that needs something, a mess to clean up. What about difficult situations? Those things that come up that we aren’t sure how to handle or if we should? Maybe we go this way and are blocked, then try another and are blocked; kind of like an equation to solve for X. When we know the One who knows all things we know there is a scripture for that. To me when God tells me to be still it is a state of mind, to stop worrying, and watch and wait for His timing. I am one of those who is always asking God questions because I know He truly knows all things, everything, and can direct my path for good. It took me a long time to but after falling, failing so many times I would rather ask first. Though I try, I find myself asking even when I should “Be still.”

Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Isaiah 40:28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary. And the young men shall utterly fall, BUT those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

It is not about just being physically still but about waiting for the right direction God’s timing and while we wait, we pray, walk in God’s ways of love, peace, gentleness, kindness, and faith.

Isaiah 55:8-9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding? In all your ways ACKNOWLEDGE Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Is God’s word really where we go to find direction? There is a scripture for that. Love covers a multitude of sins. Jesus covered ours.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
