What does being a Christ follower mean? It doesn’t mean we are perfect. It also isn’t just a label we put on ourselves and others lightly.
Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
Do others see Jesus in our words and actions?
John 14:15 If you love Me keep My commandments.
1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.”
Are we truly disciples of our Lord Jesus?
Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
Who is our neighbor? Every single person we encounter every single day. All are someone we can plant a seed of encouragement. Believers as well as unbelievers need encouragement or a helping hand no matter how small or large. Will we follow Jesus and begin to make lives around us better?
Matthew 5:20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Proverbs 6:16-19 These 6 things the Lord hates, yes seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.
James 4:11-12 Do not speak evil of one another brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?
Proverbs 11:9 The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.
Will we use the knowledge that God has given us and follow Jesus teachings?
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Are we really Christ followers? Do we believe in Christ Jesus by following His teachings? Do others see Jesus in us?
Proverbs 17:9 He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates friends.
God is love. Jesus fed the thousands, healed all who came to Him, taught and forgave all who came to Him. If we all do a little a lot gets done.
