How often do we sit in the judgement seat? How well do we take correction? How well do we do at giving correction? What does God say about correction?
Proverbs 12:1 Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
Proverbs 3:11-12 My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction, for whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.
Psalm 141:7 Let the righteous strike me; It shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; It shall be as excellent oil; Let my head not refuse it.
We are to welcome correction. We are none without sin. We are to be slow to speak for we are all at different stages in our walk with God. Let the Holy Spirit do His work.
Proverbs 25:11-12 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.
John 16:7-8 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. and when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement.
God did not leave us orphans. The Holy Spirit is at work in us at all times. Are we listening? God knows us better than we can ever know ourselves. The Holy Spirit knows exactly how to correct, encourage, and direct. Are we listening?
God comes from a place of love when He corrects us. Do we come from a place of love when we correct others? What is our motive? Are our motives to be loving and protective or to just be right?
Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
Galatians 6:4 But let each one examine his own work and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
Matthew 7:3 And why do you see the speck in your brothers eye, but not consider the plank in your own eye.
He who is without sin cast the first stone.
