Dying To Self:

Dying To Self:

John 12:25  Any one who loves his life will lose it, while any one who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

Ever wonder about this? Lets take a look. The most important part to me seems to explain the verse is “who hates their life IN THIS WORLD.

2 Corinthians 6:17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

In other words; “he who hates SIN in their life.” God isn’t saying physically leave this world but to stop sinning and don’t go along with those who are intent on committing sin.

1 Corinthians 5:11  But I now have written unto you not to keep company with any man who is called a brother if he is a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolators, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. With such ones you are not even to eat.

God’s word also reminds us though in these things:

Romans 5:8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Colossians 2:13  When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcised of you flesh (you were still in sin), God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins.

Matthew 7:1-2  Jesus words  Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgement you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

We are to concern ourselves with keeping away from those things God’s word says are sin and to stay on His paths of righteousness. We are to pray at all times for ourselves and others that we submit our lives to God and resist the devil and the devil will flee from us.

James 4:7  So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Psalm 23 The Shepard’s Prayer

The Lord is my Shepard: I have all that I need. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures ( He gives me rest); He leads me beside peaceful streams (He gives me peace). 3 He restores my soul ( He gives me strength in Him); He leads me in paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to His name (He leads me by His word and Holy Spirit into all goodness). 4 Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death (Though I walk through many trials), I will fear no evil; for you are with me. Your rod and your staff they comfort me ( Your promises given in your word are all true). 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies (You give me Your word to guide me and give me peace in times or trial and temptation). You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over (You give me joy in You). 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever (God will always make a way and when we stumble we have His mercy.)  Run to the Father for forgiveness.

Lord God we thank You that You sent Your Son Jesus Christ to be our loving Shepard to guide us into Your wonderful kingdom. For Jesus said John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me and John 1:1 tells us in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Then Jesus tells us in John 14:10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The Words that I speak to you I do not Speak on my own authority; but that the Father who dwells in Me does the work. In this Lord we put our trust in Your plan for us because we know that Your fruits of the spirit are goodness, love, peace, joy, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, patience and self-control. Lord in Jesus name help us to be like Your wonderful, compassionate Son. Thank you Lord God for Your sacrifice of Your one and only Son to save us and to bring us into a beautiful life with You.

Amen

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
