What does God say about discretion?
Proverbs 29:11 A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back.
When we vent our feelings or our anger about or over something are we careful that we know the whole truth? Are we careful to not cause harm in repeating what we have heard as possible gossip? Do we realize just how our behavior may look to others?
Proverbs 11:22 As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.
Our behavior can bring honor or disgust. If we say we know the Lord Jesus Christ we are to behave honorably, with meekness, gentleness, and truth.
James 1:19-21 So then, my brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore lay aside all filthiness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Philippians 4:5-6 Let your gentleness be know to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, let your requests be made known to God;
Pray without ceasing.
