Our children learn by example, adults learn by example. Who are we learning from? Most instructions come with pictures not only words. When our words are not reflected by our actions then we become known as hypocrites and liars. Some want the 10 commandments on the walls of our schools. Look around, think, how often do we stop to read a sign? Putting up a sign is like putting a fish on our car and then running stop signs, cutting another driver off, texting while driving and many other examples. That fish, that cross means only hypocrisy if our behavior doesn’t reflect the Lord Jesus Christ teaching. THOU SHALL NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD GOD IN VAIN!
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? Unless indeed you are disqualified.
Matthew 22:36-40 Teacher which is the greatest commandment in the Law? Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. The second is like it; you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
John 14:15 If you love Me keep My commandments.
1 John 5:2-3 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments and His commandments are not burdensome.
Do we love God? Our neighbor next door? Our neighbor down the street, around the corner? Our neighbors around the world? What example are we setting? The devil is a bully and wants to push us into hate, anger, destruction, greed, division and will use whatever lie he has to. If we truly love God righteous anger will move us to seek God’s way in prayer and study of the truth of His word. God is just, loving and forgiving. Read Jesus teaching BUT most of all live it, walk in it the best we can and when we stumble be humble, ask forgiveness, get up, fix what we can, and try again.
