Do you think you have less faith because someone says so? Do you have less faith because you wear a mask? Do you have less faith because you go to a doctor? Do you have less faith because you eat healthy? Do you have less faith because you wear a seat belt? There is any number of things people can make up. Did Jesus have less faith in the Father?
Matthew 4:3-11 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God command that these stones become bread.” But Jesus answered and said, ” It is written man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Then the devil took Him up into the Holy city, set Him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He shall give His angels charge over You and in their hands they shall bear You up, lest You dash Your foot against a stone.” Jesus said to him,, ” It is written again you shall not tempt the Lord your God.” Again the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you satan! For it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God and Him only you shall serve.” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
Jesus believed what His Father said, He believed His Word. He did not need to prove His faith to satan or to any one else. God has given us wisdom from Him in His Word. He gives us all gifts to benefit the whole. Church means a body of people not a building. As God created these amazing bodies He gave us to house our spirit. He also gave us guidelines in how to take care of them and to treat others. You know my dad is still returning the neighbors cows and I often return the neighbors dog. Yes God’s word is still very relevant. You can find these things in Levitiacus, Deuteronomy and spread through out proverbs and all the Holy Scripture. The foods God mentioned not eating there if you research you will find that science has proven these things carry diseases. God does all things for our benefit. The book of Matthew is clear on our treatment of others not just our friends and neighbors but also on those we may not agree with. If we are given wisdom and do not use it that is basically tempting God. He is long suffering with us. He knows we are not always going to get it right. We can remember His two main commandments. We are to love Him first. How? By keeping His commandments. Second, Love our neighbor as ourselves.
John 14:15 If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
Lord, thank You for Your Word and Your Holy Spirit. Thank you for Your gifts and the Giver. Lord, Your Word says wisdom comes from You and there is no deceit in You. Lord, in Jesus name help us, open our eyes, our ears, and our hearts to know Your truth in Your Word and to see it still applies in this world. As the children of Israel we still stumble. We are Your children and we need You. In this time strengthen our faith that we may apply Your Word rightly and walk in it. Thank You for always being with us and being so long suffering with us. You alone are worthy of all honor and praise. Blessed be our Father and our Redeemer forever and ever!
