Do we wonder where God is sometimes? Why God allows some things to happen? I do. This morning God directed me to Genesis 42-45. Joseph who I have admired in God’s word for holding on to God’s ways in great adversity; being sold by his family into slavery. Joseph was a slave for approximately 13 years and in jail for around two of that before the dreams God had showed him came to pass. I admit I don’t believe I could have that kind of patience though I have wished I could be more like Joseph for holding fast to God’s ways. God watched over Joseph and gave him favor with his owner and his jailer and Joseph NEVER took advantage of them. When Joseph became lord over all Egypt second to king Pharaoh he still used all integrity in this position and made provision for all people and God delivered his family. Can we who say we believe in Jesus strive to be more like Joseph, more like Jesus?
Genesis 45:5-8 But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. For these two years of famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting, and God sent me before you to persevere a posterity for you on the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you who sent me here but God: and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord over of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
Hebrews 13:16 But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifice God is well pleased.
