God’s Mercies

We are told God’s mercies are new every morning. Are our mercies new every morning? When we awaken in the morning are we still holding on to the anger and hurt of the previous day, month, or maybe years? If we believe God’s mercies are new every morning should not our mercies be new every morning? If we believe God has forgiven us our sins, do we still withhold this mercy from others? The things we hold against others harm us. They are like thorns that work their way in and fester and grow with the story in our minds and bodies. By God’s grace, by God’s Spirit we can let the morning bring new mercies. Remember we are none perfect and often our words harm and yet Jesus forgives us and God’s grace, mercy is new every morning.

Laminations 3:21-23 This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed. Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your Faithfulness.

Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.

God warned Cain, will we heed the warning now before it is too late?

Genesis 4:6-7 So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be excepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door and its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

How often do we play the movie in our minds over some hurt or slight we feel we do not deserve? Yet, we do not examine our own words and behavior? Anger begets anger but a soft word or answer can stop the escalation and truly listening to the person can reveal more.

Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath. But a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 22:24-25 Make no friendship with an angry man, and with a furious man do not go, lest you learn his ways and set a snare for your soul.

One of the gifts of God’s Spirit is self control. Have we been on the highway and had another cut us off? Did we react with grace or anger? If with anger how did the other driver react? If with grace how did the other driver react? Grace wins every time!

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such there is no law.

What spills out when we get bumped?

Thank You Father God for Your mercies are new every morning. Lord, in Jesus name help me be more like You in word and deed.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
