Are believers sometimes gullible? Do we act before we think or pray? I prayed and asked God once how I got myself into the messes I did and I got a one word answer, “GULLIBLE.” I cried, “Lord I don’t want to be gullible any more.” God lead me to read, and study His word! We have heard of many who have used believers for evil from taking all they have, to cheating them, to harming them. The devil used God’s word out of context to tempt Jesus. Jesus warning holds true.
Matthew 7:15-16 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?
God brought me to study His word. Slowly, sometimes I feel very slowly I have learned not to be so gullible but lies often come in a pretty package of flattery. We have to learn satan does not come with a pitch fork.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such are false apostles deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transforms themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their WORKS.
The devil wants to increase hate, division, anger, fear, and action before we have time to think. None of these things are of God.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind.
Proverbs is a great help! Proverbs gives us a way and warnings.
Proverbs 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, he that rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
Proverbs 22:24-25 Make no friendship with an angry man, and with a furious man do not go, lest you learn his way and set a snare for your soul.
James 1:19-20 So then my beloved brethren let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
I had one use scripture to get something from me but they took it out of context and I told them so. Remember the devil used this to tempt Jesus. Later it was proven they had only done this to get the thing they wanted. Pray, study God’s word, yet love and be kind answering with truth.
