God called His people stiff necked. God is merciful and patient with all people sometimes giving them hundreds of years to repent and change. God told them the consequences of not obeying His ways, His laws and those consequences did and do occur. God sent Jonah to a lawless, pagan nation to warn them and they listened and repented. God sent Daniel to explain pagan kings dreams and delivered warnings and bad news to them and they listened and rewarded Daniel. God sent Joseph to a pagan king to tell him the meaning of his dream and that king put Joseph in charge of all Egypt. Yet, many of God’s people refused to listen to the prophets He sent them. They jailed them, killed them, and told them not to prophecy to them because they didn’t tell them what they wanted to hear.
Ezekiel 2:3 And He said to me: “Son of man, I am sending you to the children of Israel to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed Me to this day.”
Ezekiel 3:5-6 For you are not sent to a people of unfamiliar speech and hard language, but to the house of Israel, not to many people of unfamiliar speech and hard language, whose words you cannot understand, Surely, had I sent you to them, they would have listened to them, they would have listened to you.
Will we listen? Will we study God’s word and follow Jesus teaching?
Proverbs 1:10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.
Proverbs 1:15 My son, do not walk in the way with them, keep your foot from their path.
Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
John 14:15 If you love Me keep My commandments.
Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
