2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for inspiration in righteousness that the man of God my be complete throughly equipped for every good work.
Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 That which has been is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there any thing of which it may be said, “See this is new?” It has already been in ancient times before us.
Some say the Bible is out of date, that it is not relevant for today. To those I would ask, have you read it? Have you read it from cover to cover? Here are just a few that we can bring right into our time.
Deuteronomy 14:11-12 All clean birds you may eat. But these you shall not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard,
Deuteronomy 14:18 The stork, the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe and the BAT.
All these and those I didn’t list eat dead things or kill their food. They eat blood. They carry viruses and diseases of those things they eat but God designed it so for them not for humans.
Leviticus 13:45-46 “Now the leper on whom the sore is, his clothes shall be torn and his head bare, and he shall cover his mustache (his face), and cry ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ He shall be unclean. He is unclean (Contagious), and he shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.
Any who were contagious had to wear a face covering and stay away from others so they did not pass the disease to others. Look up the information on the Spanish flu; which did not come from Spain. It went from 1918-1920, one hundred years ago. World wide 500 million died. If you look it up you will find that doctors tried to get us to social distance, wash our hands and cover our faces. Whats next?
Exodus 1:8-11 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. And he said to his people, “look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; come let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land. Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh supply cities, Pithom and Raamses.
We know that God delivered them but God also tells them not to do the same thing to strangers in their land.
Leviticus 19:33-34 And if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall not mistreat him. The stranger who dwells among you, as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
Wow God’s command to us is pretty clear. We are to come out from among the world and live lives that reflect who Jesus is.
1 Peter 2:12 Having your conduct honorable among the gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world. A city that is on a hill cannot be hidden.
John 14:15 If you love Me keep My commandments.
Our history is repeating itself but if we step into God’s word we can be a light in the day of visitation for others or we can leave them in the darkness. Jesus came to lift us out of darkness into His glorious light of love and compassion. What if Jesus had left us in the darkness? That is a scary thought. We would only have fear, hate, anger, selfishness, and no peace. Because of God’s great love for us He sent His Son Jesus and Jesus came and willingly went to the cross and the tomb that we may have life and that life eternal. Should we not do all we can to follow His word and way to lift others up and show them the true Jesus, the true light of the world. Not just tell them but live in a way that they want to know what it is we have that makes us so different. The love we have, the joy, the peace, the gentleness, kindness, self control, the hope that lies within us. What do others see in you? Think about it, maybe ask some one close to you. Only Jesus knows our hearts. We have to let Him change us to change the world around us.
Father God, thank You. Your Word is a light and a lamp for us all. In Jesus name help us walk in it. amen
