Knowledge? Understanding? Wisdom?

As we grow and go through life we learn. Our quality of life can be improved if we gain knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. God did not leave us on our own. God gave us prophets, men of God that He gave knowledge, understanding, and wisdom and we have this in the Bible. It is still the best self help book in the world! Then God gave us His Son and did not leave us orphans but gave us His Holy Spirit . Are we listening? Are we willing to listen?

Knowledge: Facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical understanding of a subject.

Understanding: The ability to understand something; comprehension.

Wisdom: The soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgement.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Proverbs 4:5-6 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of My mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Do we read this verse and think of it as a computer download? God has given us His word! God has given us His Son! God has give us His Holy Spirit! Do we really want His wisdom? Are we willing to seek it? Are we willing to ask God, the Holy Spirit to guide us in God’s wisdom? Are we willing to learn and apply the teaching, knowledge, understanding, and wisdom to our lives? Do we see God’s word as just so many words on a page? Will we let God’s word come alive in us?

From Genesis to Revelation God gave knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. As the wise king Solomon wrote, “there is Nothing new under the sun.” If you look at technology you may say, “Nothing is the same.” If you look at humans you gain the understanding, “That every thing is the same, nothing has changed!” There is still hate, love, war, disease, natural disasters, and those who do not remember or ignore the greatness of God from whom came all we need to live a good life. Are we listening? Will we listen? Will we seek God’s wisdom and cry out for understanding as if our lives depend on it? Or will we as king Solomon says:

Ecclesiastes 1:11 There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come by those who will come after.

Who is our Shepherd?

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
