Laws?

God gave us the 10 Commandments. Jesus brought out the two greatest commandments: Love God by obeying His commandments to love our neighbors. There is much wisdom given for us to understand how to obey God’s commandments in how we are to treat others. Jesus teaching is clear. The Book of Matthew expounds “Love thy neighbor.” Yet there are those who created many rules that God didn’t give. Who are we following? Are we followers of Jesus? You will know them by their actions.

Matthew 23:4-5 For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments.

Matthew 23:27 Woe to you, scribes and pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.

Matthew 23:26 Blind pharisee first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside may be clean.

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Philippians 2:3-4 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

Proverbs 26:17 He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own is like one who takes a dog by the ears.

James 3:16-17 For where envy and self seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and hypocrisy.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
