Exodus 20:13 You shall not murder.
This commandment is pretty clear right? Only Jesus went further in explaining this commandment.
Matthew 5:21-22 You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘you shall not murder, and whoever muders will be in danger of the judgement.’ But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement. And whoever says to his brother ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.
Clearly the words we speak to another person matters.
Proverbs 11:13 A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.
James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles.
How many of us has been hurt by another words? How many of us have spoken words to hurt another? I dare say we all have. God takes what He and we say very seriously. God spoke all things into existence. God used words to speak our world into being. Words are important.
Matthew 12:36-37 But I say to you for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgement. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
We are not to gossip or use our words to hurt or put down another person no matter who they are. Jesus tells us to bless and not curse. In blessing, we are blessed.
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and My Redeemer. In Jesus name amen.
