Many say they are looking forward to the day of the Lord. Should we be looking forward to this day or should we be LIVING forward to this day? Scripture clearly tells us the day of the Lord is a day of judgement, a day of darkness and not light. Jesus said many would say “We did this and that in Your name” and yet He would say “Depart from me for I never knew you.” Are we so sure we are perfect? How sure are we are saved? Does our actions reflect our walk with Jesus? Rend your hearts and not your garments.
Amos 5:18-20 Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! For what good is the day of the Lord to you? It will be a day of darkness and not light. It will be as though a man fled from a lion and a bear met him! Or as though he went into a house, leaned on the wall, and a serpent bit him! Is not the day of the Lord darkness, and light? Is it not very dark, with no brightness in it?
Joel 2:13 So rend your hearts and not your garments; return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm.
Do we wash the outside yet our inside is full of hate, anger, vengeance, racism and the like? Will we examine our thoughts and pray the Lord wash the inside?
Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.
Do we pay attention to where our thoughts wonder? Jesus fought with “It is written.”
Matthew 12:36-37 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give and account of it in the day of judgement. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
Is our obedience fulfilled? How obedient are we to the word of God?
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.
Love does no harm to a neighbor, therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
How obedient are we?
Lord fix me.
