Martha? Martha?

How many of us are Marthas? How many of us are Marthas at this time of year? How many of our families will remember all we do? How many of our families will remember the time spent to just be with them? To truly listen, to see them?

Luke 10:41-42 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Do we decide what we should do for God? Should we wait on the Lord and be ready for His direction in our daily walk? Do we get so busy that the family God has given us feels neglected?

Psalm 68:6 God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

Do we believe that we are the ones bearing the fruit?

Isaiah 55:8-11 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are My ways your ways says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void. But it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

John 6:28-29 Then they said to Him, “What works shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom he sent.”

Do we trust God? Do we trust Him to lead our daily lives? Are we listening?

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

What are our motives? God knows what they are.

Matthew 6:1 Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.

Matthew 6:3-4 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your right hand know what your left hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

Are we listening?

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
