Mercy?

What does mercy mean? The dictionary says it this way: “Compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.” God has every right to destroy us for our sins, for not obeying His commandments. Our God chose to send His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to bear our sin, our punishment that those who believe in Him have eternal life. Jesus healed all who came to Him and saves all who come to Him. Can we extend the mercy that God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son extended and extends still to us?

Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Do we want mercy and forgiveness?

Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Father in heaven will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive you.

Do we look out and think, “I am not as bad as this one or that one?”

Proverbs 21.2 Every way of man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord ways the heart.

Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord ways the spirit.

We are all one step from the ditch. Better to remain humble before the Lord than let our pride catch us.

Proverbs 16:18-19 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Pray without ceasing!

Proverbs 3:3-6 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablets of your heart, and so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; IN ALL YOUR WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM AND HE SHALL DIRECT YOUR PATH.

Are we acknowledging, praying? Are we listening?

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
