God gave His commandments to a people, a nation that He chose. God gave His commandments to the people He chose not for power or His benefit but for their benefit. All God’s laws are good and many the basic of the world’s laws. God did not give them to condemn the world but that His people may lead by example; that the world might be saved. We are not the world’s judge, God is. What kind of example are we setting? One that shows God’s love and goodness or one that shows hate and division? God’s word says do not let evil be known AMONG HIS PEOPLE. Jesus says, “He who is without sin cast the first stone.” How can we draw others to Jesus if we are busy hating those who we decide are not worthy of our Saviors love? God is the only reader of hearts. God is the only one who knows all things about us. Do we twist or let others twist God’s word so as to condemn those who don’t know God and His love? The devil did that with Jesus. God is love, we see it in the commandments He gave His people and in the gift of His Son who came in love not to condemn the world but that the world might be saved. Are we listening? Who are we listening to? Would you want someone making choices for you because they believe they are right and have that right? God gave us a choice! It is written, “Choose this day whom you will follow!” Again, GOD GAVE US A CHOICE. God says, “IF MY PEOPLE who are called by My name.”
Joshua 24:14-15 Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the river and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! AND if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, CHOOSE for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Armorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Jesus went to the Samaritan woman at the well to give her living water. Jesus always did everything with intention. If Jesus made sure He went to be where this woman of a tribe that was hatted by the Jews to bring her the words of life should we not give God’s words of love and life?
John 4:4 But He needed to go through Samaria.
John 4:10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
1 Corinthians 5:12-13 For what have I to do with judging those who are outside? But those who are outside GOD judges. Therefore put away from yourselves the evil person.
We as Jesus followers are told not to keep company with those who claim to be Christ followers but do not walk in God’s truth and way. Do remember we are none perfect and one who turns his brother away from sin saves a soul and be careful in judging lest you fall into the same sin. Yes, all God’s word is important and we have all sinned and fallen short of His glory. There are many false teachers in the world. How do we recognize them? You will know them by their fruits. We do not only listen to their words only but watch their actions. What kind of example are they setting? Does it truly line up with God’s word? Study to show yourself approved.
Ephesians 6:13-18 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all taking, the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Are we shining God’s light and truth?
Ephesians 5:1-2 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling aroma.
