Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 That which has been is what will be, that which is done will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “See, this is new?” It has already been in ancient times before us.
Spanish flu 1957-1958, Third Plague 1855-1945, Great Plague of London 1665-1666 and there are others. Why do we not remember? Why do we not learn from history?
Exodus 1:8-10 Now there was a king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. And he said to his people, “Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; come, let us deal shrewdly with them lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land.”
Hitler was a dictator, one ruling party from 1933-1939. He got there by spreading hate and fear among the people of the Jewish people. Blaming the Jews for all their troubles. He got them to unite in the hate of one group of people. The treatment of the Jewish people was horrific. America went to their rescue.
We know God sent Moses to rescue the Israelite people. God did the fighting. If we study His word, His commandments. We find that God taught His people not to treat others as they had been treated.
Exodus 22:21 You shall neither mistreat a stranger nor oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Unless we are of pure Indian descent, we are all strangers in America. Many different groups of people from many different countries came here and settled in different areas of this continent. A blending of many peoples. Finally July 4,1776 this country became one country. The men who wrote the constitution and agreed together on it were from many different countries.
Mark 3:24-25 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself that house cannot stand.
John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they have it more abundantly.
Jesus was asked, “what is the greatest commandment?”
Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all you heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first great commandment and the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
John 14:15 If you love Me keep My commandments.
What fruit are we producing? Do others see the fruit of the Spirit in us? Do they see Christ in us? Do they hear love, joy, goodness, kindness, gentleness, mercy, hope, self control, integrity in our words?
Can we truly take up our cross and walk as Jesus Christ walked?
They were looking for a conquerer but received a loving Savior, King of Kings, King forever. Will we follow Jesus?
