If there be but ten Lord would You save them? In Genesis chapter 18 we find the story of Abraham and Lot or most may know it as the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. Here we see the love of Abraham for his nephew Lot in that even in fear of the Lord; Abraham stood before the Lord asking and pleading for Lot and his families lives that the Lord may rescue them from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. In Abrahams pleading he said:

Genesis 18:24-25 Suppose there be fifty righteous within the city; would you spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it? Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

Abraham pleaded it down to but ten righteous. Abraham pleaded with God to save the righteous. Now enter Jesus!

Matthew 18:11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.

We know God granted Abraham’s request and Lot, his wife, and his two daughters were spared and brought out before God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Yet still Abrahams wife looked back.

Luke 15:10 “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Are we crying out to our Lord for the lost, for the sinner, for the straying sheep?

Proverbs 11:30 The Fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.

What kind of fruit do others see in us that are believers? Are we walking in Jesus ways? God is love! All His word teaches how to live a loving, kind, good life. It also teaches the consequences of hate, fear, racism, pride, lies, lawlessness, and taking things into our own hands. Are we listening?

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
