Are we in awe of the rich? Do we think them special? Do we want to be like them? Do our children want to emulate them? Do we make them our idols? Those who are rich and famous are humans. They still make mistakes and some feel they can commit evil because they are on a prideful pedestal.
James 2:5-7 Listen, my beloved brethren. Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs to the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich press you and drag you into the courts? Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called?
God the Father, and Jesus Christ the Son of God called us who believe in Him to walk differently. To love our brothers, our neighbors, and our enemies. God is just yet merciful.
James 2:8-9 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Luke 12:47-48 And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself according to his will, shall be eaten with many stripes. But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask more.
We are all one step from the ditch. Pray without ceasing.
1 John 2:1-2 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
Hebrews 12:5-6 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as sons: My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; for whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.
I remember the horrible state I was in and it still haunts me and yet breaks my heart for anyone who would suffer such, for God saves. Jesus redeems and forgives. To repent means to turn away from what is wrong and to do what is right and not return to the wrong. Lord, You are the only one who can keep our feet from slipping.
