Profit?

Do we use Jesus for profit? Do we use God for window dressing? Do we pull out God’s or Jesus name to make a point? Do we use God’s word to prop up our actions?

Matthew 23:1-3 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples saying: “The scribes and the pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do but do not do according to their works, for they say, and do not do.”

Matthew 23:5 But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the border of their garments.

Matthew 23:25 Woe to you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edged-sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. AND there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Matthew 16:26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves, Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?- unless indeed you are disqualified.

You will know them by the fruit of the Spirit. Will we let Jesus light shine His way? Jesus said “if you love Me keep My commandments!” What fruit are we bearing?

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
