Rest?

God created all things in six days and blessed all He created. God gave the seventh day for rest.

Genesis 2:2-3 And on the seventh day God ended His WORK which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His WORK which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His WORK which God had created and made.

Would Jesus change God’s laws / commandments? Did Jesus change any of His Father’s laws / commandments?

Exodus 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days you shall LABOR and do all your WORK, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no WORK: you nor your son, nor your daughter, nor you male servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.

Matthew 5:19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

God rested from doing work; yet always does good. God gave a day of rest for us all. Jesus reminded us that loving others is holy on the Sabbath. God is love.

Matthew 12:12 Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do GOOD on the Sabbath.

Jesus always did and does what pleases His Father. What would please our Heavenly Father? God does not change. God’s commandments never change. They are simple yet profound. Love God the Father and Jesus by keeping God’s commandments and love others.

John 14:15 If you love Me keep My commandments.

Matthew 22:37-38 Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'”

Jesus kept God’s commandments. Jesus loves the Father and loves us. Is it work to do good and love?

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such there is no law.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
