Rich? Poor?

Do we really learn the lessons Jesus taught? Proverbs gives us a wonderful guide in living and loving our neighbor. I have heard and read that those receiving aid are lazy not entitled to help. How many of us know those personally who are receiving aid? There was a time my family needed aid. My family did not want to accept aid and as soon as possible stopped taking aid. Unless we know others lives and situations why would we judge them? How often do we ignore those that may need a helping hand? This life is not easy. As Paul said, “I have known times of plenty and times of little.” Since I have known times of little I want to lend a hand to others whenever I can.

Luke 16:19-30 tells us the story of Lazarus. The rich man’s name is not given but we are told he WALKED by Lazarus begging at that rich man’s gate. Do you remember the fate of Lazarus? The rich man?

Psalm 41:1-3 Blessed is he who considers the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.

Proverbs 19:17 He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given.

James 2:15-17 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace be warm and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body. What does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

READ UNDERSTAND JESUS TEACHING!

Matthew 25:31-40 When the Son of Man comes in all His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. ALL THE NATIONS will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another. As a Shepherd divides the sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on His left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: FOR I WAS HUNGRY AND YOU GAVE ME FOOD; I WAS THIRSTY AND YOU GAVE ME DRINK; I WAS A STRANGER AND YOU TOOK ME IN; I WAS SICK AND YOU VISITED ME; I WAS IN PRISON AND YOU CAME TO ME.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord when did we see You hungry and feed You or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take you in or naked and clothe You? When did we see You sick or in Prison and come to You?’ and the King will answer and say to them, ‘ASSUREDLY, I SAY TO YOU INASMUCH AS YOU DID IT TO THE LEAST OF THESE MY BRETHREN YOU DID IT TO ME.’

ARE WE LISTENING? God is the same today, yesterday, and forevermore.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
