Salt? Light?

Jesus said, “you are the salt of the earth.” We know salt seasons things and is a preservative but if salt looses its saltiness it is worthless. Jesus said, “you are the light of the world,” yet if we behave like the world we become darkness and are worthless. How are we salt? How are we light? What do others see in us? Do they see peace, kindness, gentleness, goodness, love? Will we be more like Jesus? Vengeance is Mine says the Lord; Love your enemies; You will know them by their love for each other says, Jesus. We will be know by how we treat others, not by how they treat us. Do not judge lest you be judged. We are none without sin. God judges us by how we treat others not by how they treat us. God changes the world by changing me; one me at a time. Will we be the change needed? Will we let God take our stony heart and give us His heart of love?

1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Ecclesiastes 10:1 Dead flies putrefy the perfumer’s ointment and cause it to give off a foul odor; so does a little folly to one respected for wisdom and honor.

Proverbs 25:26 A righteous man who falters before the wicked is like a murky spring and a polluted well.

Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

What do others see in us?

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
