Scapegoat?

Do you know where this term originated? Like many it came from the Bible; Leviticus 16:21-22 Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man. The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land; and he shall release the goat in the wilderness. Adam blamed God and Eve, and Eve blamed the serpent. Down through history men have used people different from them as scapegoats for things that happen to divert blame or attention. Christ followers had Nero, the Jews had many but Hitler we remember most. It is still happening today. During wars or times of trouble we look for someone to blame and persecute those around us that have nothing to do with what is happening and is happening to them as well. Red, yellow , black, and white we are all created in Gods image. God alone is judge. Jesus tells us to love our enemies giving them food and drink because God the Father taught Him this as well. God told them if they see their enemy struggling that they were to help not ignore them. Are we Christ followers? Jesus says if you love Me keep My commandments and that He always did what pleased His Father. We are told to live in community. Will we isolate this country?

Exodus 23:4-6 If you meet your enemies ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again. If you see the donkey under its burden, and you would refrain from helping it, you shall surely help him with it. You shall not pervert the judgement of the poor in his dispute.

Exodus 23:2 You shall NOT follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.

Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no counsel the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors they are established.

Proverbs 29:12 If a ruler pays attention to lies; all his servants become wicked.

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as in the manner of some, but extorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day approaching.

It is satan who wants to isolate and bring fear or dazzle with pretty lies. When we are isolated we fall much easier for we have none to help lift us up. Two are better than one and a three fold cord is not easily broken. Choose your friends wisely; you will know them by their actions. Anger begets anger love begets love.

Matthew 5:25 Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.

Do we look different from those around us? Are we really following Christ? Do we look like Him? Walk in His ways?

Deuteronomy 19:14 You shall not remove your neighbor’s landmark, which the men of old have set, in your inheritance which you will inherit in the land that the Lord you God is giving you to possess.

Romans 13:10 LOVE DOES NO HARM TO A NEIGHBOR. THEREFORE LOVE IS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
