Solomon told us of many seasons in Ecclesiastes. What about the season of waiting? Waiting is not easy for us today. We have so much information at our finger tips. With all the good that the internet has brought us it also, made a way for evil. Those who want to spread lies and division for gain or just for ego to the point that we have difficulty discerning the truth from the lie, fact from opinion, and good information from wrong information. So many jump from one diet to another, one drug to another, one style to another without even stopping to consider wether it is good for them personally or to even pray and wait to see what the side effects will be or the consequences to their health or their lives. Then again instead of studying Jesus teachings for ourselves we wait for someone to tell us what to believe and follow. Jesus said, “Follow Me.” Many times it is written, “Wait upon the Lord.” Knowing God, knowing Jesus we know the One who knows all things and controls all things. Yes, God will let us go after that shiny object, believe that lie and pay the consequences but if we pray and wait for Him we know His plans for us are good. Draw near to God and God will draw near to us.
James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.
Isaiah 4:31 But those who wait on the Lord shall gain new strength; they shall mount up on wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Elijah waited by the brook and then he waited at the widow woman’s home until God’s time for him to act. Waiting is hard.
Ecclesiastes 3:16-17 Moreover I saw under the sun: In the place of judgement, wickedness was there and in place of righteousness, iniquity was there. I said in my heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time there for every purpose and every work.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; IN ALL YOUR WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM AND HE SHALL DIRECT YOUR PATHS.
Are we listening? Who are we listening to?
