Are we really Christ followers? Do we justify our actions by the worlds standards? Do we bear fruit for God’s kingdom when it isn’t the popular opinion?
1 John 2:3-6 Now by this we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
Do we slow down and compare what we see and hear to God’s word, God’s commandments?
Philippians2:3-4 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but for the interests of others.
Christ died for us. He is looking out for us. Can we even grasp this? Emmanuel, God with us.
Exodus 20:13-17 You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor ANYTHING that is your neighbor’s.
Are we looking for God’s fruits? Are we producing fruit worthy of being a Christ follower? We all sin and fall short. Do we repent and right our mistake and try again?
Lord, thank You, for Your word and forgiveness. Keep Your hand upon us and keep us from temptation. Lead us in Your way everlasting. In Jesus name amen.
