Genesis 39:2-5 The Lord was with Joseph and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. So it was, from the time that he had made made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and in the field.
Genesis 39:9 “There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept any thing from me but you, because you are his wife. How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
Genesis 39:21 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
Genesis 41:38-39 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you.”
To be a separate people doesn’t mean we aren’t among those who are unbelievers. It means our strength and faith in God shines for all to see. Joseph in his situation obeyed God’s laws. God watched over him, protected him, and gave him favor among a different people because of what they saw in Joseph.
1 Corinthians 5:12 For what do I have to do with judging those who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges. Therefore, “put away from yourselves the evil person.
Daniel 1:8-9 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the kings delicacies, nor with wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the Chief of the eunuchs.
Daniel 2:47-48 The king answered Daniel, and said, “Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings and a revealer of secrets since you could reveal this secret. Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts; and made him ruler over the whole province of the Babylon, and chief administrator over all the wise men fo Babylon.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
1 Peter 2:12 Having your conduct honorable among the gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
1 Peter 2:17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
Leviticus 19:34 The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
Lord, I thank you for Your perfect word. Lord, it is so beautiful and perfect but we are not. We stumble and fall and speak things before we pray or think. Lord, You have given us Your Holy Spirit, please strengthen we Your people in hearing, listening, and obeying Your word that we may be a shining light in the world. By You and You alone can we do this. Help us to be humble and admit when we mess up and fix it and learn and do better. Thank You for Your love and patience with us. We know You will complete the good work You have begun in us to the day of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in whose name we ask these things. All glory and honor be to You Lord God of all creation.
