God is not about the show. God is about the heart. Do we tend to proclaim loudly that we are christians? Do we make a show of it? Do we get angry when we are questioned about our show? Jesus taught us that true Christ followers are not to put on a show but to be humble in heart before our Father. The show is for man.
Matthew 6:5 And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
We are not to use a show before God, for God always sees the truth, we cannot hide from Him.
1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or his physical stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
John 2:24-25 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man.
Do we trust God and walk in His ways? Do we simply make a show of it?
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
What are we sowing?
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such there is no law.
What will we sow?
Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
It is hard to confess our sins yet God already sees and knows and will forgive our sins in confessing our sins and He will provide atonement.
