Are we as Christians sold out to Jesus? Have we taken up His teachings and are we Walking in them.
Matthew 13:45-46 Again the kingdom of heaven is like a great merchant seeking a beautiful pearl, who when he found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
John 8:29 and He that sent Me is with Me: the Father hath not left Me alone; for I do always those things which please Him.
Can we say by this that Jesus sought the kingdom of God? I would think so.
Philippians 2:6-8 Who being in the form of God did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation taking the form of a bondservant and coming in the likeness of man and being found in appearance as a man. He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even to the death on the cross.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free you shall be free indeed.
1 John 2;6 He that saith he abides in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked.
1 John 3:9 Whoever is born of God does not commit sin; for His seed remains in him and he cannot commit sin, because he is born of God
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance , whatsoever I have said to you.
John 16:8 and when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement.
No amount preaching, pleading or pointing of fingers will bring about the conviction of sin, unless the Holy Ghost is at work in the sinners heart. (this is quoted from got questions.org: what does it mean that the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement.)
Jesus teaching in Matthew starting at chapter 5 is a good place to start in learning how we ought to walk and then move on the Proverbs.
Matthew 6:33-34 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow, will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
1 John1:8-2:3 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. My little children, these things I write , so that you may not sin, and if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ourselves only but also for the whole world. Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
God is love, Love does no harm.
Lord God I thank You for Your Son Jesus our Savior, Shepard, and High Priest forever. Lord we know Your Holy Spirit works in us to protect us from sin. Lord we still mess up and step in it. Please strengthen in all of us the desire to run to You when we mess up for Your forgiveness, direction, and restoration because You convict us of wrongs and sin so we are drawn away from harm. Thank You God for being our High tower, our Shelter in the storm, our Strength when we are weak, our Light in the darkness. You alone are all in all. Bless Your people with the hunger to seek Your kingdom first and give us boldness to walk in love to those around us. In Jesus name amen.
