Still One

Proverbs 29:12 If a ruler pays attention to lies, all his servants become wicked.

In 1 Chronicles chapter 18 we find king Ahab and king Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat goes to visit Ahab. Ahab asks Jehoshaphat if he will go to war with him against Ramoth Gilead. Jehoshaphat says yes but, “Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.” Jehoshaphat wanted to know God’s will. Ahab wanted to be told what he wanted to hear and be encouraged. Ahab had 400 of those men who danced around and flattered him. Jehoshaphat wanted better so he asked, “Is there not still a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of Him? Ahab said, “There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he never prophesies good concerning me but always evil. Ahab deceived Jehoshaphat in going into that battle but God rescued Jehoshaphat and king Ahab died just as God’s one told him he would.

Do we listen to what we want to hear? Do we search for the truth? Do we inquire of the Lord?

Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Proverbs 27:12 A prudent man foresees evil / danger and hides himself; the simple pass on and are punished.

We can find the truth in God’s word. Will we search for it?

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
