Talent:
My Grandma is a preacher and a servant of God. She told me about this scripture one morning in our phone call. I thought originally this scripture was talking about only a form of currency. She explained it was talking about the gifts / talents that God gives each of us to help others. When I feel like I am not doing much to help others or I don’t have much to give I hear the Lord say to me “every little bit helps.”
What is your talent? Every little bit used to help others in need grows in God’s hands.
1 Peter 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Romans 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith.
1 Timothy 4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in you which was given you by prophesy, with the laying on of the hands of the prophet.
Matthew 25:14-15 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. 15 and unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one: to every man according to his ability: and straight way took his journey.
God gives us His gifts and tell us go bare fruits for Me. For as you do to one of the least of these My people you do for Me.
Matthew 25:16-29 Then he that had received five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. 17 and likewise he that had received two, also gained another two. 18 but he that had received one went and dug in the earth and hid his Lord’s talent. 19 after a long time the Lord of those servants cometh and recon with them. 20 and so he that had received five talents came and brought another 5 talents, saying Lord you gave me five talents: behold, I have gained five more besides those. 21 His Lord said to him, well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter into the joy of the Lord. 22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord you gave me two talents, I have gained two other talents besides them. 23 His Lord said unto him, well done good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things I will make you ruler over many things; enter into the joy of the Lord. 24 then he which had received the one talent came and said Lord I knew that you are a hard man reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t strawed. 25 and I was afraid and hid your talent in the earth, here is your talent 26 His Lord answered and said to him, you wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I haven’t sown and gather where I haven’t strawed 27 you should have put my talent to the exchanger and then in my coming I should have received mine own with interest. 28 Take therefore the talent from him and give it unto him which has ten talents. 29 for unto every one that has shall have abundance but from him that hath not shall be taken away that which he has.
Lord as I come before You I ask forgiveness for not using Your talents as I should. Lord we don’t always know exactly what our gifts are. In Jesus name Lord I ask that the Holy Spirit be strong in guiding us to use what You have given us. Lord You tell us in 1 John 3:17 If someone has enough to live well and sees his brother or sister in need but shows no compassion how can God’s love be in that person. Lord please awaken us to those around us that we can help. Let us smile, speak an uplifting word, buy a meal, visit the sick, what ever it may be that you would have us do for another Lord. Forgive me for being so caught up in my own thinking that I miss even one chance to show Your love to another. I thank You Lord for every talent You have given me. Please teach me to use them always for Your glory.
In Jesus precious name amen.
