What are we teaching our children? God did not shy away from teaching about sex, disease, stealing, taking responsibility, righteous behavior towards others. God’s word teaches these things for the health and benefit of His people. Will we learn from our Creator that knows all things and teach our children? Will we protect them by teaching them the truth about sex, disease, and responsibility to others, just as God gave and explained these things to Moses to protect His people? Will we teach them as God commanded?
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 And these words that I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk about them when you sit in your house, talk of them when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as a frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates.
These things God taught were to be remembered and taught to their children! God taught so His children had a clear guide to a righteous life, one filled with hope, love, compassion, kindness, and yes health. Will we give our children this gift of God in love and truth?
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Many things in this world can pull us away in the wrong direction as adults. How much more our children if they are not equipped with clear, honest direction? Once when I asked: “Lord, how do I get myself into these messes?” There was a one clear word answer: “Gullible.” I said: “Lord, I don’t want to be gullible anymore.” God then drew me to His word and gave me a love of studying it. I still feel gullible but I have the perfect guide. We are all one step from the ditch.
Proverbs 14:18 The simple (gullible) inherit folly (trouble), but the prudent (acting with or showing care and wisdom for the future) are crowned with knowledge.
The world is not timid in its teaching. Will we be timid in our teaching of God’s word in love? God gave us His word because He loves us!
