We are told in scripture to test to see if something is of God. How are we to test? We are told there are many false prophets, teachers in the world. How do we recognize false teaching? Any thing that does not line up with God’s word or goes against the teaching of God in the scriptures is not from God. So, How do we recognize false teaching?
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, wiling to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
Jesus, when tempted by satan spoke three times, “It is written.” Jesus knew God’s words, knew God’s commandments, and knew God’s love.
It is written:
Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
Philippians 2:3-4 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each of you esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, faithfulness, and self control. Are we studying God’s word so we are not tossed about by what we see and hear? Do we have on the whole armor of God? Do we only read God’s word without really seeing it?
Lord, thank You that You did not leave us orphans in this world. You gave us Your Holy Spirit and Your Word, and Your Son Jesus as our Savior. Lord, that You would give Your people a desire to know Your Word and to walk in it. In Jesus name amen
