God warned the church of Thyatira of letting those who would lead them astray or tempt them in sin remain without consequence. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. God was warning them that He had given this person time to repent and they had not, yet God was giving a last warning. We sometimes can be easily swayed into things we ought not to engage in because it has become normal, like gossip in the form of a prayer request and there are many more. Paul wrote to the church of God at Corinth about one of these problems.
1 Corinthians 5:10-13 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. BUT now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named BROTHER, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner-not even to eat with such a person. For what have I to do with judging those outside. But those outside God judges. Therefore put away from yourselves the evil person.
God gives warnings, consequences, and chances to repent and to turn from the sin. We also are to forgive, give warnings and chances lovingly, kindly, gently in fear and caring for our brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ for we are none without sin and we are all one step from the ditch. We never correct lightly.
Galatians 6:1-2 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Matthew 18:15 Moreover, if your brother sins against you, go tell him his fault between you and him ALONE. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
James 5:19-20 Brethren, if anyone among you wonders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
Lord, help Your people love one another in truth and righteousness, lifting each other up in love.
