Are we listening? Jesus said He was going away but that He would not leave us orphans. Jesus would send a Helper, a Comforter, One who would teach us all things, bring His word to remembrance, and the Helper would abide with us forever. The Spirit of Truth. Are we listening?
John 16:7-13 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He’s come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of the ruler of this world is judged. I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will tell you of things to come.
Are we listening? I have experienced these things in many ways. I have and am still learning to wait upon the Lord for He alone knows all things and all His ways are good and righteous. One that seems to come to mind often was; I walked into my closet one day to get something to wear and I clearly heard in my spirit, “Do you really want to wear that?” I answered, “If You are asking me then no I don’t.” I cleaned out my closet. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Are we listening?
Psalm 119:160 The entirety of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgements endures forever.
Psalm 119:162 I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure.
Do we rejoice over God’s word? Do we accept conviction and leading of us into His ways?
Lord, Keep my heart soft to You always. In Jesus name amen.
