The Most High?

In the book of Daniel we read of dreams and visions. Yet Daniel gave us much more; he taught us of God the Most High God. We learn that God sent Daniel and his friends into captivity yet God gave them special gifts and favor with their captors and the kings of Babylon. Daniel and his friends behaved wisely and respectfully to the kings and their captors. In this God blessed them and the kings of Babylon because God chose the kings of Babylon. God showed these kings He is the Most High God. These pagan kings believed in a Most High God even though they continued to worship idols. We who believe Daniel’s given prophecy of our Savior Jesus Christ the Son of God the Most High King do well to learn by Daniel’s humble, honorable behavior. We do well to learn from Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego’s humble, honorable behavior. We do well to remember we are the children of the Most High God and walk humbly in His world.

Daniel 1:9 Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs.

Daniel 1:17 As for the four young men, “God gave them knowledge and skill in the literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.”

God gave all these four what they would need to serve these pagan kings well by serving Him.

Daniel 2:20-21 Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”

Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to king Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days.

Daniel 3:44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; And the kingdom shall not be left to other people, it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms an it shall stand forever.

God’s Son Jesus was prophesied through Daniel. God’s Son Jesus Christ came so that we may have everlasting life through Him for God so loved the world. Jesus taught us how to walk in His Father’s ways by His example. We who believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior are His kingdom. God’s kingdom still stands! We are to obey God’s commandments to love others and yes those we see as our enemies just as Jesus does that His kingdom grows. We show we love God by obeying His WORD.

Daniel 3:17-18 “If that is the case our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace and He will deliver us from your hand O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

They did not get angry and yell and tell the king what they thought of him. They addressed him calmly and respectfully as “O king” and simply stating they would only worship their God.

Daniel 3:24-25 Then king Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True O king.” “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

Nebuchadnezzar then calls them the servants of the Most High God. A pagan king recognizes the Most High God.

Daniel 3:2-3 I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked for me. How great are His signs, and how mighty His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation.

God’s kingdom has stood the test of time and still stands. God’s Word lives forever and ever. Will we heed God’s Word, obey His Word to love God by obeying His Word to love others and yes our enemies too? Will we trust God even in our fear?

Daniel 4:17 This decision is by decree of the watchers, and the sentence by the word of the holy ones, in order that the living may know that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, gives it to whomever He will, and sets over it the lowest of men.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.

Psalm 37:3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

Lord God our Father in heaven in Jesus name help, we your people to walk in Your way.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
