The Power of The Tongue:

The Power Of The Tongue:

The Lord spoke a word to me about this in conviction of telling a friend about something my husband did that upset me. Have any of you spoke about someones behavior to another that has hurt or upset you? You most likely say, yes of course who hasn’t.

Jesus hasn’t.

James 3:17  The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

In hearing this it was gentle and peaceable and made perfect sense. The very short sentence He gave me was beautiful; “I do not tell any one about your mistakes and faults.” Think about it; the One and only Jesus Christ who says in Psalm 139:1-5   1 O Lord, You have searched me and know me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, You are acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. 5 You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me.

A bit of an eye opener to say the least. The One who knows us best and loves us, keeps all of our faults and mistakes to Himself. Don’t think for an instant He accepts sin though. God is our Heavenly Father and corrects us. So it is best to confess and receive His forgiveness. He forgives us dusts us off and helps us to change.

I committed 2 sins, I spoke about someones behavior that put him in a bad light, and I also had thought that another person I know who had done this kind of thing earlier should not have; which is hypocritical. Often we see a behavior even as christians and condemn it. Be careful you know not how easy it is to step into the poo. Pray for them and yourself! If you noticed their behavior best to take a good look at your own. If we hold to only speaking of what lifts others up we do well.

David in Psalm 32:3-4 speaks of the effects of sin on us: 3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long. 4 for day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer.

Proverbs 18:21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and those that love it shall eat of the fruits.

1 Peter 3:10  For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.

Proverbs 10:19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he that refrains his lips is wise.

Psalm 19:14  Is one of my favorite and now I add new meaning to it.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer.

Lord at all times help me to speak with kindness and truth.

The road is narrow but we have a Shepard to guide that seeks us and leads in all His goodness, love, patience, faithfulness, kindness, and gentleness.

Thank You Jesus our Lord, King and Trusted Shepard.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
