The Road Less Traveled:

The Road Less Traveled:

God’s word gives us a road map to walk.

Isaiah 55:11 “I love this scripture.” So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall Prosper in the thing for which I sent it! God is Sovereign over all things.

Matthew 7:14 KJV Because strait is the gate and narrow the way, which leads unto life, and few there will be that find it.

God gave us the way and He said in Isaiah 30:21  Your ears shall hear a word behind you saying, “This is the way walk in it”.  Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

So what is God’s Road map?

Exodus 20: The Ten Commandments

You shall have no over gods, before me, you shall not make for yourselves a carved image of any likeness that is in heaven or on the earth, you shall not bow down to them.

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain. God’s name is used with respect and reverence.

Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. Make that day a time to spend with God.

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long and that it may be well with your land which the Lord your God is giving you. Treat them with respect.

Now the next group falls to: Love your neighbor as yourself: God provided for all instruction on how to live a great life in harmony.

Mark 12:30-31   Jesus words “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like it.  You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.”

These expand on how we are to treat our neighbor:

You shall not murder. Jesus expanded this to say in Matthew 5:2:22  You have heard that it was said to those of old “you shall not murder” and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment. 22 But I say to you that who ever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement. This means that murder starts in the mind.

You shall not commit adultery. Jesus expanded this to say in Matthew 5:27 to say:  You have heard it said of those of old, you shall not commit adultery, But I say to you whoever looks at a woman or man to lust for her/him has already committed adultery with her / him in his heart. Meaning adultery starts in the mind!

You shall not steal.

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. Or to explain; don’t say things that is going to hurt someone else. Don’t carry gossip don’t even listen to it.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male or female servants, nor his ox or his donkey, nor any thing that is your neighbors. We can change this today to Your neighbor’s wife, car, house, or any of their  electronics. This could point back to You shall not steal. Meaning stealing can start to take hold in the mind. If we are looking at what our neighbor has and desiring it the devil can take a hold of that and begin to push us in a direction to try to take what is our   neighbor’s, to be angry with our neighbor because we feel he has more than he deserves or to treat our neighbor differently.

Who is our neighbor?  All people.

This leads us to understand this scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJ : Casting down arguments and every high thing that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Or to recognize those thoughts that do not conform to God’s word and stop them. I recite scripture and pray when these things come at me.

A lot of people think how can any one be “holy as God is holy,” who really is going to make it to heaven. Jesus answered this!

Matthew 19:26 / But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible but with God all things are possible.”

The glory be to our God for when we accept Jesus, God’s love begins the work of transforming us. This isn’t some long or perfect prayer mine was simple. I was so upset and didn’t like myself. I started to cry and said “Lord I don’t like me fix me.” I felt the most amazing presence of God; I thought this is what real love feels like and I have desired a closer walk with Jesus ever since. My road has not been easy but the benefits is knowing our amazing God and His Son Jesus and that God is Love! Like all parents He guides and corrects because He truly wants the best for us.

Jesus meets us where ever we are. He will meet you There; we only need ask.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
