Have you bought something and it came with instructions but you decided you could put it together without them? How did it turn out? Haven’t we all tried this at some point? How often do we decide we can navigate this life on our own? So many mistakes, failures, pain caused to myself and others. Those teen years when we think we know it all.
John 14:3-6 And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know. Thomas said to Him, “Lord we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
God gave us His written word as a life application guide. Like the instructions from a doctor, instructions from a dentist, a map, instructions from a home builder, or for a bicycle if we don’t use them the way is harder and we get lead astray by every wind, fad, or doctrine.
Lord, Thank You for Your Word. You wrote Your commandments on stone with Your own finger. Thank You for sending Your Son to show us who You are and provide us a way home. Blessed are we for You give us all we need and all things are for our benefit. There is nothing new under the sun.
