True Wisdom?

We know wisdom comes from God. What do we notice about the wisdom from God in scripture? Do we notice that it given to us to teach us how to behave with integrity even when no one is looking? When Solomon was made king God told him to ask what he wanted. Solomon humbled himself and asked God for the wisdom to lead God’s people. So what we find in Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, And Song of Solomon is true wisdom. Because Solomon asked with a humble heart for wisdom to govern God’s people, God also gave him much more. Why do we think we are so much more superior today than in Jesus day? Then they developed all we have today and we only have been give the gift of wisdom to build upon what has already been done.

2 Chronicles 1:7-10 On that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask!” What shall I give you?” And Solomon said to God: “You have shown great mercy to David my father, and have made me king in his place. Now, O Lord God, let your promise to David my father be established, for You have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of YOURS?”

Ecclesiastes 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.

James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

Luke 12:47-48 And that servant who knew his masters will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask more.

With wisdom comes responsibility. Do we learn and learn yet not apply what we have learned? We are none perfect, we all stumble. Thank God His mercy is true and is forgiveness is boundless. Thank God His love is great for us and will help us to turn and know the way in which we should walk. Only by God’s great mercy and grace are we saved.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
