Trust?

Do we trust in the Lord God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit? How often have we said to others”Trust in the Lord” yet we have not examined ourselves? What does it mean to trust in the Lord God? Did Jesus not leave us a perfect example?

Matthew 3:3-10 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “IT IS WRITTEN, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'” Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God throw yourself down for it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over You, and they shall bear You up, lest You dash Your foot against a stone.'” Jesus said to him, “IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN, ‘you shall not tempt the Lord your God.'” Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And He said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you satan! ‘FOR IT IS WRITTEN, You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve.'”

Jesus used what His Father had given Him. Jesus knew His Father’s word so well that satan using it against Him did not cause Him to stumble. Jesus trusted His Father completely. We may not be able to know every word of God perfectly but we do have the Holy Spirits help and another example.

Acts 17:10-11 Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more fair minded than those in Thessalonica in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

Do we trust that Jesus did not leave us orphans?

John 14:17-18 The Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Do we believe in God? Do we trust in God, Jesus, Holy Spirit?

Lord, help our unbelief! In the face of all we see now in Your world. Lord, help our unbelief.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
