Two Or More?

Why do we go to the buildings we call churches? Do we dress up for our friends and neighbors? Do we go because we feel obligated or don’t want to look bad in others eyes? Do we go because we want recognition for being a good christian? God is the reader of our hearts and minds and He knows our motives. God wants us to come together in worship of Him by loving, encouraging, supporting, and treating each other with the kind of love He gives. This doesn’t require a fancy building but it does require a loving, humble heart for all people. The one you hold the door for, are kind to the stranger you meet, showing concern for others in need. God’s church is not a building. God’s church is God’s people; we are God’s temple. God tells us to, “Rend our hearts and not our garments.” In other words don’t put on a show but truly repent and return to obeying God’s word, the way, the truth, and the life.

Joel 2:12-13 “Now Therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning,” so rend your heart and not your garments; return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm.

Jeremiah 17:10 I the Lord search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

What fruit are we producing? What are our motives? We cannot hide from God for God is creator we are the clay.

Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven.

Search us oh Lord and lead us in Your righteousness.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
