Solomon asked God for wisdom to govern God’s great people. God granted Solomon’s request. In that wisdom Solomon learned that it is vanity to think we have control of anything. In his learning and searching and all that God taught Solomon he learned that God is creator and ruler of all things.
Ecclesiastes 1:12-14 I, the Preacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. And I set my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under heaven; this burdensome task God has given to the sons of man, by which to they may be exercised. I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.
Ecclesiastes 3:9-12 What profit has the worker from that which he labors? I have seen the God given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. I know that nothing is BETTER FOR THEM THAN TO REJOICE, AND DO GOOD IN THEIR LIVES.
Ecclesiastes 12:12-13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments for this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgement, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.
Solomon also wrote much of Proverbs. Proverbs is a wonderful teaching on wise actions. Are we listening?
