Warnings?

Why do we often ignore warnings? I noticed my behavior when driving to my son’s. I kept a watch on my speed and noticed a pattern. When I was in the midst of cars around me speeding way above the speed limit my speed changed to match their speed without me noticing it had changed so much until I would look down to check my speed. The same, I think can happen when we are around people. We begin to fit the mold of those around us without realizing we have taken on traits that are not always good. I had someone tell me about a small town they recently visited on holiday with someone who had lived there a long time and she said they were the nicest people and no one talked about or gossiped about or said an ill word about anyone. That was the way of the people in this small town. Change starts with us examining our own behavior and keeping watch on our own words and actions not our friends and neighbors behavior. Love FIRST.

Proverbs 1:10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

Proverbs 2:10-11 When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you.

Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom, from His mouth come knowledge and understanding

Proverbs 6:12 A worthless person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth;

Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things the Lord hates, yes seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.

Do we notice that all these have to do with our words, thoughts, then actions? To destroy someone’s reputation is the same as murder. Will we examine ourselves?

1 John 2:10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

I know I cannot do this on my own.

Zechariah 4:6 So he answered and said to me: This is the word to Zerubbael: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord.

Psalm 141:2 Let my prayers be set before You as incense. The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Set a guard O Lord over my mouth; keep watch over the door to my lips.

I am God's work in progress. God's word says "be holy as I am holy." The only way to accomplish this is to turn our lives over to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have found that this is a learning process but begins with a real desire to know Him. My prayer is Lord keep me on your paths of righteousness bringing glory and honor to your name.
