The meaning of Woke is to be awake. I have read that those who believe in Jesus teachings and try to follow them are called “Woke.” One statement particular was because they believed the Sermon on the Mount or called “The Beatitudes.” If believing Jesus teachings has others thinking I am woke then I am good with that because Jesus is very awake and knows all things. God is God and all His teachings are good and if we follow them maybe one day we will be awake to see Jesus and be like Him. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
- Be humble knowing we are all sinners.
- Mourn and turn from wrong doing.
- Be meek. Don’t let our pride take over.
- Desire to do what is good in God’s eyes.
- Be merciful because we have all received mercy.
- Keep our hearts and thoughts pure. Always thinking on Jesus teachings.
- Be peacemakers. We don’t have to have our own way but to walk with Jesus in His way.
- When reviled / criticized do not return hurtful words or anger but kindness for in so doing we may defuse the situation and be seen as Jesus followers / peacemakers.
- Take care of the poor and needy for we lend to God and God pays His debts.
- Remember hospitality for in so doing we may entertain angels.
John 14:15 If you love Me keep My commandments.
Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
Leviticus 19:18 You shall not take vengeance nor bear any grudge against children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
Matthew 5:44-45 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes the sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
Proverbs 19:17 He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given.
Are we awake? Who are we following? Are we simply following along without true information? The devil wants us to do just that. Don’t question, don’t look for truth, don’t be awake to know God’s word, God’s truth. Will we be awake and hold on to Jesus teachings? Will we study Jesus teachings, listen for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in all things?
John 14:26 But the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom My Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
The Holy Spirit will never go against Jesus teachings!
Matthew 16:14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
Woe to you who call evil good and good evil.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
Have we tasted and seen that all God’s teachings are good? What happens when we get bumped? The more we cling to Jesus the more we work to walk like Jesus.
Psalm 16:1-2 Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “My goodness is nothing apart from You.”
We are all one step from the ditch.
Thessalonians 5:21-22 Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.
